Phnom Penh: Mr. Heng Ratana, the Royal Government Delegate in charge of the Director General of the Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC), said that the Preah Vihear Temple was attacked by Siamese soldiers using MK-82 bombs along with all kinds of shells in order to destroy the Preah Vihear Temple, a world heritage site.

On July 28, 2025, Mr. Heng Ratana highlighted that “the Preah Vihear Temple was attacked by Siamese soldiers using many MK-82 bombs (weighing approximately 230 kilograms) along with all kinds of shells, especially 155-millimeter shells with cluster bombs in order to destroy the Preah Vihear Temple, a world heritage site.”

He continued that in the spirit of protecting the territorial integrity and the Preah Vihear Temple, the heritage of the Khmer ancestors, the brave armed forces of Cambodia have successfully fought back against the invaders.

He added that it has been more than 50 years since May 1975 when the MK-82 bomb disappeared from the territory of this motherland! In the previous war, no MK-82 bombs were dropped on the Preah Vihear Temple.

He added that the Preah Vihear Temple is a very sacred place, even the former King of Siam, when he ascended the throne, took water from the Preah Vihear Temple to sprinkle the border with his power. Therefore, any state or person who destroys the Preah Vihear Temple will definitely suffer the consequences of destruction.
